Welcome to the Red and Yellow Pages the online business directory operated by Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches.
If you are a business owner you can take advantage of the extensive network of the surf life saving community and market your business to your colleagues in a very cost effective way.
List your business for $100 including GST for 12 months. If you have multiple businesses or want to list under several categories eg, Plumber, Hot Water Service etc. you can take out multiple entries. All entries are listed alphabetically by business name.
Your entry will show your name; your Club; your Business name and your contact details.
If you are a member looking for trades or services, use the Red and Yellow Pages to find a "trusted" business to look after you. Only the businesses of current Surf Life Savers can be listed in this directory so why not support a fellow club member. All of the proceeds from this directory go back into Surf Life Saving.

2010 Club Golf Day @ Bayview Golf Club
Friday 16 April - Dust off the Clubs
Dust off the golf clubs because the Newport golf day has been organised for Friday 16 April. It will be an Ambrose competition which is a lot of fun and gives everyone a chance.
It will be an 8.00am shotgun start (No one is being married forcibly!) with registration at the pro. shop from 7.00am. A bacon and egg roll sandwich will be provided for breakfast and then lunch back at the club house.
The cost for the day will be $95 and that includes breakfast and your lunch as well as the chance to win prizes for your golfing prowess. If you need a cart it will cost extra.
So make a up a foursome for the day, it will be a lot of fun particularly as a drinks cart will be travelling around.
Now, we need corporate sponsors at $500 a hole so if you have any connections please let us know. We want to raise as much from the day as possible and your support to make it a huge success will help.
Contact Jack Holland (99798300, 0438 023539, jack@tmpmonavale.com) or Doug Menzies (0418 163620, dmenzies@tscnsw.org.au) plus don't forget we need hole sponsors (@$500/hole).

SLSA Youth Policy Draft
1. Draft Revised Youth Policy
In line with the BOD concern to improve SLSA policy documentation, this draft has been re-formatted to provide a high level strategic policy section, along with appendices that set out guidelines for implementation. Whilst there are alterations to state and national competition guidelines, the essential content remains consistent with the existing policy, except for a few wording changes that do not change the intent of that content.
2. Rationale paper outlining research relating to sports development
This paper has been written to underpin changes to the policy based on research findings as established by the Australian Sports Commission’s JUNIOR SPORT MATTERS: Briefing Papers For Australian Junior Sport published in 2007. The paper clarifies the unique nature of SLS competition, and amplifies the alignment of the revised Youth Policy draft with that research.
3. Overview Table of Developmental Stages Guidelines for Youth
This table is included in Appendix 3 of the attached revised Youth Policy, however it is sent as a separate document as it contains a brief overview of the alignment with research finding as well as proposed changes to state and national competition. I would welcome any comment or input as to where and how this table could be improved.
4. Draft AC Agenda Item for October Meeting
This AC agenda item draft has been included in this communication to provide a view of the structure and intent for AC action on the revised Youth Policy.
I would emphasise that these papers are drafts and are being circulated for comment and input prior to finalization. Your input is sought and will be valued.
Newport SLSC - Sales of History Books - Have You Bought Yours Yet?
Stocks of our history books recording our first 100 years are gradually going down. Have you bought yours yet? They will make a great addition to your library, a wonderful present for a family member or a friend and a great idea as a gift to you business associates.
To buy the book (Great value at $65) just go to the club's website and there are discounts for multiple copies.
UNIFORMS
In Thailand they have a surf season that runs for 3 months of the year. They also lose more than 250 people a year to drowning of beach goers consisting of locals and tourists. Through some local associates we are looking to try and establish a Surf Life saving presence initially in the Phuket area. Funding is being sourced from Property developers and there is a real interest in getting this up and running.
If any clubs have collected old uniforms and would consider passing them on to this potential initiative in Thailand, could you please contact Bryn Russell from the South Curly club on 0407278998 to arrange for collection. The uniforms will be stockpiled whilst we have the opportunity to do so. Thanks to those clubs that have already donated their uniforms and also thanks to SLS NSW for approving the uniforms use in Thailand.
Congratulations to our Junior Lifesavers of the Year.
Two outstanding young life savers from Manly Life Saving Club have been honoured this week with the title of Sydney Northern Beaches Junior Life Savers of the Year. Sita Mason and Alex Pappalardo were announced as the winners of the prestigious award at the Narrabeen Junior Carnival last Sunday.

Assessments for this season
Assessments need to be booked through the Branch office at least ONE week prior to the date of assessment. This ensures that any necessary paperwork can be ready for you in time for the assessment. Question papers (if applicable) need to be returned to the office as soon as possible after the written assessment as there are other Clubs that will also require them. If you are unable to return these in person, please leave them in our letterbox – 2/5 Vuko Place Warriewood.
Run, Swim, Run and scenario components of Bronze Medallion and SRC assessments will be conducted at central venues this season and must have a senior assessor in attendance. These will be advertised in the “Week in Review”. If you have any queries of the requirements for assessments please look at the standard operating procedures for assessments on our website.
