Brian Geddes – Queenscliff SLSC
Brian joined Queenscliff in 1976 becoming a nipper parent and joined along with his sons who joined as nippers. He became an Age Manager and Beach Official in Nippers, officiating up to a State level for nipper events and a Beach Official in Seniors officiating up to an Aussies level. Brian remained an Official for 38 seasons, he was also a Juniors Official for 26 years, a Junior Branch Selector for 10 years, Junior Branch Team Manager for seven years, and the Junior Branch Delegate for 10 years. Brian held numerous Branch positions in the Junior movement over the many years of his service to Queenscliff, the branch and Surf Life Saving.
Brian served as the Secretary for the Branch Nippers Committee for 20 years, as the Treasurer of Queenscliff SLSC for two seasons, Junior Branch Selector for 10 years and as the Junior Team Manager for seven years. He was a Level 1 Coach and a Level 2 Competition Official.
Brian was Awarded Life Membership of the Branch Board of Junior Activities in 1993. He joined the SNB Board of Examiners in 1992. As a Life Member of the Branch Juniors Association and he was elevated to Branch Life Membership when the two bodies amalgamated. He was also awarded the 25 year and 30 year Long Service Award in 2003 and 2008 respectively and the 25 year National Patrol Service Award in 2003 for his many years of patrolling, officiating and general service to Surf Life Saving.
He was also one of eight Queenscliff Club members who received the Australia Government Sports Medal in 2000.
Brian was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2003.
Brian passed away in July 31st, 2019. He was 88
