David Lawler OAM

David W Lawler OAM – North Narrabeen SLSC

If there was one thing David Lawler got a real kick out of it was patrolling his beloved North Narrabeen Beach. He did it for many years. Dave joined North Narrabeen SLSC in 1944 and was heavily involved in junior activities development in the Club and Branch. He was also a top R and R competitor and surf swimmer and won many Branch, NSW and Australian titles in Open and Masters divisions.

Affectionately known as ‘Dooga’, Dave became a Life Member of the Branch in 1999 and, two years later, was honoured in the Queen’s Birthday List with an OAM for his significant contribution to the Surf Life Saving movement and Amateur Swimming. He was President of Narrabeen Swimming Club.

David was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2000.

David passed away on July 19th, 2013. He was aged 84.
