Kenneth (Ken) Norman Leonard
Mona Vale SLSC & Narrabeen Beach SLSC

Highly respected, Ken Leonard spent 10 years serving as President of Narrabeen Beach SLSC. In 1985,  his last term as President is he was honoured with Life Membership of the Club.

Ken, who served with the RAAF during World War II, actually started out in Surf Life Saving with Mona Vale SLSC in 1947. He switched to North Narrabeen SLSC where he gained his Bronze Medallion in 1949 and served as a Chief Instructor and held other positions until he moved to neighbouring Narrabeen Beach in 1973. Narrabeen Beach is where he won most of his awards, especially at a Branch level.

Ken won the Harry Ragan award for Examiner of the Year, received a Distinguished Service award, was bestowed Branch Life Membership and served the SNB Branch Board of Examiners. Ken also received Life Membership of SLSNSW and was awarded an Australian Sports Medal, a prestigious honour recognising his efforts at an Australian level. Narrabeen Beach named a surf boat after Ken to honour his long and illustrious career with the Club and Surf Life Saving.

 


Ken was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2001.


Ken passed away on October 29th, 2016. He was aged 90.
