Michael Barlett OAM – Bilgola SLSC
Michael joined Bilgola SLSC and gained his Bronze Medallion in 1956. Michael held a number of roles within the Club including Board & Ski Captain, Chief Instructor, Club Captain, Vice President, Hon. Secretary, Gear Steward, Boat Captain and Race Secretary. Michael became Bilgola Club President in 1971 for two years, he returned to the President’s role in 1977 and held that position for another 3 years and is now a Patron for the Club.
Michael held many roles within Branch joining the Board of Examiners in 1963, became the Assistant District Supervisor of the Board in 1963 and became the District Supervisor from 1964 until 1967 and in 1980 the Secretary of the Board.
Michael was also on numerous committees within Branch – the Boat Committee, Constitution Committee, Meritorious Awards Committee, Finance Committee, Carnival Competition Committee, Liaison Committee, Life Membership Committee and the Judiciary Committee. He also held the positions of Assistant Secretary, Hon. Secretary, Delegate to State Centre and Deputy Branch President.
Michael was awarded SNB Life Membership in 1982.
