Robert (Bob) Cox – North Palm Beach SLSC
Robert joined North Palm Beach in 1969 and has been involved in life saving activities for over 39 years of active service starting in 1979 when he was awarded his bronze medallion. Robert has held the Club positions of Patrol Captain, IRB Captain and Club Captain at North Palm Beach. He has also achieved 100% patrol attendance on numerous occasions throughout his over 39 years of service. Rob has also achieved the gold medallion (advanced lifesaving) in 1986 and has put all his skills including IRB driving skills which has been used to benefit not only his club but also state national events and lifesaving goals. Robert has also been a longstanding member of the SNB branch radio operator team for over 25 years from which he has assisted all SNB clubs with their patrols and lifesaving needs.
Robert during his years of service was considered the power craft extraordinaire, a moniker he gained through his involvement with the development of IRB and Jet Boats and now includes the incorporation of off shore rescue boats into the Surf Life Saving repertoire of equipment and training.
Robert has held a number of positions and appointments, of which his most prominent role having been a member of SNB board of Examiners since 1977. Robert was awarded the 10 year and 15 year national patrol service awards, he was named the club member of the year award in 1992/93, awarded the Australian sports medal in 2000/01 and the SLSNB Distinguished service award. He was awarded life membership to North Palm Beach SLSC and SNB life membership in 2010.
Bob was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2010.
