Stanley Buckman

Stanley Buckman – Manly LSC

Stan joined Manly Life Saving Club in 1972 and achieved his Bronze Medallion in the same year.

Stan has held many positions at Manly including being Vice Captain for four years,  Club Captain for five years,  IRB Captain for two years, Gear Steward for three years, Radio Officer for four years, Treasurer for three years, Chief Instructor for four years, Delegate to Branch for 13 years,  Club Trustee for two years and has been an Active Patrol Member for over 30 years.

Stan has also been the recipient of many awards – the Pop Windshuttle Award (1973-74), Patrolman of the Year (1975-76, & 1983-84), Clubman of the Year (1979-80, 1982-83 and 1997-98).

At a Branch level Stan joined Board of Examiners in 1983, was part of the IRB Panel in 1984,  the Beach Management Supervisor from 1986 to 1992, Duty Officer – Exam Supervision from 1992 to 1995 and  1997 to 2000. Stan was part of the Trauma Panel from 1996 to 1999, on the Patrol Inspection Panel from 1983 to 1990, and a  Member of the SLSA Educational Tour to Trinidad and Tobago in 1984.

Stan was awarded the prestigious Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and was honoured with Branch Life Membership in 2002.   Stan has given considerable service to the Board of Examiners in examination capacity, his Club Manly and the Branch.


Stanley was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2002.
