 SERVICE HONOURS CRITERIA 

Nomination & Recognition Process 

Nominations for consideration of Service Honours of Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches (SLSSNB) must be: 

1. Made using the Service Honours Nomination Form; 

2. Proposed and seconded by two (2) members of SLSSNB; 

3. Endorsed by either the Club President or an authorised Office Bearer of the Club; 

4. supported by information contained in SurfGuard (where applicable); and 

5. Accompanied by a photo of the nominated person. 

Committee Considerations 

Service Honours consist of (4) four levels of Awards assessed by the following criteria. 

Distinguished Service Award 

Criteria shall be exceptional voluntary service to the benefit of SLSSNB through participation in any one or more of the following Education, Lifesaving, Member Services, Surf Sports and Branch Administration over a period of fifteen (15) years as demonstrated by a suitable record within the nomination. Only members of Surf Life Saving Clubs within Sydney Northern Beaches Branch are eligible for this award. 

Outstanding Service Award 

Criteria shall be exceptional voluntary service to the benefit of SLSSNB through participation in any one or more of the following Education, Lifesaving, Member Services, Surf Sports and Branch Administration over a period of ten (10) years as demonstrated by a suitable record within the nomination. Only members of Surf Life Saving Clubs within Sydney Northern Beaches Branch are eligible for this award. 

Prominent Service Award 

Criteria shall be exceptional voluntary service to the benefit of SLSSNB through participation in any one or more of the following Education, Lifesaving, Member Services, Surf Sports and Branch Administration over a period of five (5) years as demonstrated by a suitable record within the nomination. Only members of Surf Life Saving Clubs within Sydney Northern Beaches Branch are eligible for this award. 

For the purpose of the above awards, Service to SLSSNB means service which is for the benefit of SLSSNB and/or the majority of Clubs within SLSSNB. It does not include service solely for any individual Club which though important, is more appropriately recognised at that Club level. 

Any nomination rejected for a particular award will be ineligible for reconsideration for that or a higher award for two (2) years. 

Sydney Northern Beaches Branch Honour Award 

Awarded to members or non-members (either as individuals or as part of a group) who provide exceptional contribution, service and support to SLSSNB. This award shall be nominated by the Branch Executive Committee and endorsed by two (2) Directors of the Executive Committee other than the President and Director of Lifesaving. A suitable record of such contribution, service and support must be provided with the nomination. 

All nominations for the above awards will be submitted to the Life Membership and Honours Committee for consideration and the decisions of that Committee are final.
