UAV’s (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)
The Branch operates six UAV’s at both fixed locations and in the Surf Rescue response vehicles for quick deployment. The UAV’s are used for beach surveillance, search and rescues and any taskings required by emergency services. The Branch will be running training for UAV pilots throughout the season, UAV pilots don’t need to be qualified patrol members but do need to complete a UAV introduction course and radio operators course. The UAV program falls under the branch support operations and is coordinated by the SNB Branch UAV Advisor.
