How was Club Formed:

Newport Beach was becoming a popular surf bathing beach by 1908. So much so that in September 1908 WSC [laced a reel and line at Newport. Local businessmen, hoteliers, boarding house owners, shopkeepers and some locals formed the club to help protect their visitors and clients.

First Bronze Medallion – Squad – Date: 1909-10 five members to RLSS

First Clubhouse Built: First clubhouse was 1910

Subsequent Clubhouses: Second clubhouse was opened 30th January 1915 with the third and current clubhouse being opened on 30th September 1933

Junior Activities/Nippers Formation Date:

Nippers 1: 1927 to 30th January 1932

Nippers 2: 24th September 1967 to January 1970

Nippers 3: October 1993 to current.

Special needs nippers October 2002.
