WWCC

Please find attached a copy of the 2022/23 Working with Children Check (WWCC) Requirements.  This page outlines the legal requirements and responsibilities for members and clubs in relation to WWCCs in NSW.

These updated requirements include an amendment to the parent exemption section following advice from the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG).  This exemption clarifies that parents require a WWCC if their child is participating in a different age group to the one they are volunteering with along with some others.

Can you please review this information and share with members, working with them to implement these requirements.  It is important for clubs and members to take action now, so that members have time to apply for and obtain a WWCC prior to season start.  A flowchart has been included to assist with understanding who needs a WWCC.

Please note that every WWCC needs to be verified by the Club with the Office of Children’s Guardian, and steps on this process are included.  A number of clubs have been flagged by the Office of the Children’s Guardian as needing support with their verification processes, and SLSNSW will be in touch with a number of clubs in the coming weeks to provide assistance with this process. If you need assistance with the process or have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact Emily Buckle on 0409 077 317.
