As we move closer to the 3rd May 2025 Federal Election, we would like to draw your attention back to, and remind you of, your responsibilities in regards to SLSA Policy 6.25 Non-Political, Non-Sectarian and Organisational Neutrality.
SLSNSW has already had to intervene with numerous breaches of this policy which has the risk of bringing surf life saving into disrepute regarding our political positioning and relationships.
As an organisation, we pride ourselves on our political neutrality, as we enjoy the support of all political parties, at all levels of government. Policy 6.25 has been refreshed to ensure it provides greater guidance to members and clubs so as to not put yourselves, or our organisation, into a poor position both politically and within the eyes of the community.
If you are approached by a sitting federal member, or election candidate, wishing to announce election commitments that may relate to your club, please in the first instance refer to the Policy, and if still unsure, contact our General Manager Communications and Partnerships, Donna Wishart on dwishart@surflifesaving.com.au for advice.
