Arthur Olaf Olsen* – South Curl Curl SLSC
Joined Sth Curl Curl in 1927 at the age of 28. He was Club Secretary for 11 years and President for 20 years. In concert with Arthur Still they were responsible for much of the Club’s development and successes, initiating improvements including the enlargement of the old Clubhouse, concrete paths and lawns and ultimately the current clubhouse.
When he took over as president in 1939, the Club faced the challenge of so many of its men leaving for war. To help fill the gap, Arthur pushed at all levels to admit 14-year old boys – to be known as cadets – to the movement.
He was awarded Club Life Membership in 1932 and was also made a Life Member of Sydney Branch, The Manly-Waringah Branch, the State Centre and National Council.
Arthur was awarded SNB Life Membership prior to 1959.
Arthur passed away on August 21st, 1976. He was aged 76.
