John Saxby – Queenscliff SLSC
John Saxby became a member of Queenscliff SLSC in 1951 and went on to achieve his Bronze Medallion in 1954. His extraordinary dedication to Surf Life Saving encompasses over 50 years of service. In recognition of his outstanding commitment, John was honoured as Clubman of the Year in the 1980/81 season.
Instrumental in introducing Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB’s) to Queenscliff. John played a crucial role in initiating the training of numerous members. His passion and leadership in this area contributed greatly to the club’s lifesaving capabilities. John’s unwavering dedication to Queenscliff SLSC has been acknowledged with several prestigious awards throughout the years, including:
Distinguished Service of Queenscliff in 1983/84
- Life Membership of Queenscliff – 1987
- 25 year Medallion – 1981
- 50 year Medallion – 2004
- Branch Distinguished Service Award in 2000
- SNB Branch Life Membership in 2005
These accolades stand as a testament to John’s immense contribution to both the Queenscliff SLSC and Surf Life Saving as a whole.
John was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2005.
John passed away in 2009. He was aged 72.
