Richard (Mick) Griffin OAM – Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club
Mick joined Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club in 1944 /1945 Season and gained his Bronze Medallion the following year.
Mick has held multiple positions within the Freshwater Club, most notable being the Club Treasurer for 21 years! He also held the position of Race Secretary and Club Committee member.
As standard bearer for high profile Freshwater March Past team Mick was well known for imparting his competitive knowledge onto many Clubs.
Receiving many awards throughout years of service Mick was awarded Life Membership of Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club in 1989, Distinguished Service for Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches in 2004, Life Membership for Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches Life Membership in 2009.
In 2007 Mick was honoured with the Order of Australia Medal for services to the Surf Life Saving movement, particularly through the Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club.
Mick was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2009.
