Richard fondly known as Ritchie, became a member of Collaroy SLSC in 1984, earning his bronze medallion the same year.  Throughout his tenure, Ritchie has held various significant positions.

He contributed as the Club Social Conveyer and Premises Committee member for eight years.  served as a Delegate to the Branch for eight years, and acted as President of Collaroy from 1992 to 1995.  Ritchie’s dedication continued as a member of the Club Committee from 1996 to 1999, and he received the distinguished honour of Distinguished Service of Collaroy in 1989.

At the Branch level, Ritchie actively participated in several crucial roles.   He served on the Organising Committee for the Australian Championships, was Deputy President of SNB Branch from 1995 to 1996, and President of SNB Branch from 1996 to 2000.  Joining the SNB Board of Examiners in 1988, Ritchie also actively contributed to seven Branch Committees.  His exceptional service led to the Distinguished Service of the Sydney Northern Beaches Branch award in 1999 and Life Membership of SNB in 2001.  Ritchie’s influence extended to the state level as Deputy President of Surf Life Saving New South Wales.  In recognition of his remarkable dedication to the field, he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.

Over the years, Ritchie has dedicated countless hours to developing the Sydney Northern Beaches Branch, offering leadership, fostering sponsorships, managing competition gear, handling finances, and overseeing overall management.  His unwavering commitment and special service have made a lasting impact on the Branch.


Ritchie was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2001.
