Marianne Troop – Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club
Maz (as she is affectionately known) joined the Dee Why SLSC in 1990, embarking on a remarkable journey of service and dedication. Her passion for lifesaving led her to earn her Bronze Medallion in 2002. Driven by a commitment to helping others, Maz became heavily involved in First Aid training for both members and the community, joining the SNB Board of Examiners in 1991. Her leadership skills and expertise were further recognised when she was appointed Branch Director of Examination and Education in 2001, a role she held for two years.
Maz’s outstanding contributions to lifesaving have been acknowledged with several prestigious awards throughout her career. In 2001, she received the SNB Harry Ragan Award for Outstanding Service and a Prominent Service Award for Dee Why SLSC. Her dedication was further celebrated in 2002 with the SLSNSW Examiner of the Year Award.
Over the years, Maz has continued to expand her skills and knowledge, earning her 10 year, 15 year and 20 year Officiating and Assessment Certificates, as well as her Level 2 Surf Official Certificate in 2007. In recognition of her exceptional service, she was honoured with the Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches Distinguished Service Award in 2007 and Life Membership of Surf Life Saving SNB in 2011.
Marianne was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2011.
