Steve Haggett – Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club

Steve joined Dee Why SLSC back in 1991, and then became the Club President for Dee Why from 2002 – 2005. Over the years Steve has held a number of roles including Assessor, Facilitator, Trainer, Instructor, and Patrol Captain. Two significant roles Steve has held were as a Bronze/SRC Assessor since 1995 along with being a member of the SNB CISM TIPS Team since 1995.

 

Throughout his time in the Surf Life Saving Community Steve has received numerous awards from Club, Branch and State. Some of those club awards include Life Membership in 2007, Club Person of the Year (1992), 10, 15 & 20 Year Assessing Service Award, 10, 15, 20 & 25 Year National Patrol Service Award, 25 Year Training Service Award and 25 Year Long Service Award. Some of those Branch awards include Community Education Program of the Year (2022), SNB Official of the Year (2021), SNB Life Membership (2014) and the Harry Ragan Award for Outstanding Service. Some State awards he has received include Volunteer of the Year (1996 & 97), Lifesaver of the Year (1994) and Training Officer of the Year (1996).

 

All of these awards just show you how much Steve is really involved within the Surf Life Saving Community no matter what level. He has genuinely made a positive impact within the community, and we can’t wait to see what more he will do for the community.


Steve was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2014.
