Surf Rescue Certificate – Intensive Course
Gain your Surf Rescue Certificate, a worldwide recognised qualification in a 4-day Intensive Course.
Begin to develop a high level of skill through training for your Surf Rescue Certificate. The Surf Rescue Certificate is the core award for young surf lifesavers to start voluntary patrolling at their Club.
Training sessions are designed to ‘test’ a person’s competency in a variety of areas, as seen below. The training is done to the highest standard using both practical and theoretical components.
All skills taught in this course combine to help the candidate become an essential member of the surf life saving team.

Pre-requisites
Participants must be at least 13 years of age at the date of the assessment and be able to complete a 200m pool swim in 5 minutes of less.
Have completed a 200metre swim in five (5) minutes or less, unaided (goggles/mask permitted), in a swimming pool of not less than 25 metres, prior to the candidate undertaking any water training or assessment activities.

Assessment conditions:
Assessment is through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios. The assessment for an Intensive Course is held on the fourth day of the course.

Monday to Wednesday with assessment Thursday – 4 days

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This course is the minimum water safety qualification for Junior Activity supervision.
