Barrie Edward Pitt – Dee Why SLSC
There wasn’t much Barrie Pitt didn’t do at Dee Why SLSC when he became a ‘’blue and white’’ man. He was a Club Captain, Secretary, Treasurer and President. Barrie was also very instrumental in the formation of the nippers at the Club.
He will always hold the record for the youngest member ever to receive Life Membership at the tender age of 25. Apart from his heavy involvement with Dee Why SLSC, Barrie, a chartered accountant, was Treasurer of Surf Life Saving Australia for three years and Finance Director of the Sydney Northern Beaches Branch in 1973 and 1974. He was dedicated to Surf Life Saving.
Barrie was awarded Life Membership Sydney Northern Beaches Branch in 1994 and was also awarded Life Membership of Surf Life Saving NSW
Barrie was awarded SNB Life Membership in 1994.
Barrie passed away on September 1st, 2016. He was aged 82.
