Kevin Martin OAM – North Curl Curl SLSC
Kevin has been a part of the Life Saving Community since he was 18 years old. He joined North Curl Curl SLSC back in 1950 where he then went on to gain his Bronze Medallion a year later. Kevin carried out patrols for some 15 years whilst also being a Member of the Club’s Management Committee for 40 plus years, President for three years, Senior Vice-President for three years, Secretary for three years, Club Historian since 2003, Club Convenor of the Life Membership Committee since 2004, Publicity Officer for one year, Chairman and Member of the Jet Boat Surf Rescue Group and Beach Patrol Member for 15 years.
From his long commitment to North Curl Curl SLSC, Kevin has received the 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 & 70 Year Long Service Award. He is also a Life Member of North Curl Curl Surf Life Saving Club (1969) and SNB Surf Life Saving (2012). For all his hard work, in 1973 Kevin received the North Curl Curl Club Honour Blazer Best Clubman. Now that is a very impressive. Kevin is also a current member of the Surf Communication Radio Rescue Services.
Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2011 for community service through Surf Life Saving and also the Warringah Council Outstanding Service Award. Kevin was also awarded the SNB Distinguished Service Award in 2007, Warringah Council Outstanding Community Service Award in 2004 and the Manly Daily Centenary Medal for Service to Community in 2006.
Kevin was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2012.
Kevin passed away on May 2nd, 2024. He was aged 92.
