FIRST AID OFFICER
Every patrol or sports event requires first aid offi- cers who are able to administer basic assistance in the event of an emergency. The First Aid Certificate provides participants with the skills and knowledge to apply advanced first aid responses, life support, management of casu- alty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical assistance. Qualifications and Prerequisites: You must be 14 to undertake your First Aid Certificate.
A surf lifesaver is a trained volunteer that patrols our beaches on the weekends. Becoming a surf lifesaver is satisfying, fun and rewarding. The Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) is the introductory award for patrolling surf lifesavers and allows the recipient to take part in beach patrols. Completion of this award is a minimum requirement for participation in surf sports competition as an Under 15 (and in some instances as an Under 14).
JUNIOR LIFESAVER OF THE YEAR PROGRAM
A male and female SRC member is nominated to represent their Club. The award is a way for Clubs and Branches to recognise their U14 members’ achievements in surf lifesaving and their community. All U14 members who believe they could be the next Junior Lifesaver of the Year should apply through their Club and submitted to Branch by the closing date.
