Joined North Steyne SLCS – 1980. Gained Bronze Medallion 27/2/1983. Active patrol duties 1983-2012 (Unbroken). Patrol Captain 1984-2003, President 2011/2012, Deputy President 2006-2008, Club Captain 1990-1992, Chief Instructor 1998-2004. Various other officers-gear steward, vice captain, radio officer, First Aid officer.
Warringah Surf Radio Operator – 13 years. Board secretary, duty officer, beach management officer, examiner ARC, SLSC/Bronze Awards (now called assessors). Life membership of North Steyne – 2003. Branch Distinguished Service Award – 2006. SLSA 20 years Assessing Certificate – 2009. 25-yearlong service Award – 2008.
Garry was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2012.
