Garry O’Sullivan – North Steyne SLSC
Garry O’Sullivan embarked on his journey with North Steyne SLSC in 1980, gaining his Bronze Medallion Award in February 1983. His dedication saw him give a life of service and leadership to the Surf Life Saving community, earn numerous accolades, and serving in pivotal roles within the club. From 1983 to 2012 (Unbroken), Garry was an active patrolling member of his club. Over the years, he held several key positions within the club, including Patrol Captain from 1984 to 2003, President in 2011/12, Deputy President from 2006 to 2008, Club Captain from 1990 to 1992, and Chief Instructor from 1998 to 2004.
His commitment extended to numerous other official roles, such as Gear Steward, Vice Captain, Radio Officer and First Aid Officer. Additionally he served as a Warringah Surf Radio Operator for 13 years, lending his expertise as a Board Secretary, Duty Officer, Beach Management Officer, examiner for ARC, and assessor for SLSC Bronze Awards.
In recognition of his exemplary dedication and service, he was honoured with several accolades, including Life Membership of North Steyne in 2003, Branch Distinguished Service Award in 2006, the SLSA 20 year Assessing Certificate in 2009, and a 25 year Long Service Award in 2008, and SNB Life Membership was awarded to Garry in 2012. His steadfast commitment to North Steyne SLSC and the broader SLS community is truly admirable.
Garry was awarded SNB Life Membership in 2012.
